National Park Beauties…..What an enjoyable trip to put the National Parks on your agenda.

Curly and I decided that we would start by having lunch in Williams, Arizona then head up to the Grand Canyon National Park, from there continue to Utah on our road trip.
It happened to be our wedding anniversary so dinner at the Grand Canyon was a special treat in The Arizona Room and the view was breathtaking. We were able to navigate with the wheelchair at that area of the park without any problems. Driving around the park in our van made sightseeing easy.
The cabins looked so quaint that I think they may have been an issue if we would have stayed in one. We spent a couple of nights at the Best Western right at the entrance to the park. When we arrived, they showed us to our room....too much furniture and a smaller room. This was in the older section. I went back to the front desk and they willingly exchanged our room for one that was more spacious in the newer section. Sometimes all we need to do is ask.

From the South Rim we started our driving tour up to the North Rim and heading up to Moab, Utah. The first night was a little late in arriving so the morning was time to get up and get moving. Up to Arches National Park.
Easy access to the trails but not so for a wheelchair.
Beauty abounds the disabled in a wheelchair from the Overlooks!!!
Arrived back at the hotel in time to take in dinner at the Desert Bistro. Delicious European food and a flair that made you think you were at a bistro across the pond.
The next day off to Canyonlands National Park. Learning about the carvings of the Canyons and seeing the beautiful sights made it unique to us.

Onward to Salt Lake City for a couple of days. Temple Square was beautiful, they were so accommodating to Curly for the organ concert and touring throughout the square. Seeing the beautiful weddings walk through the park like setting, ending with lunch at the David Smith Building Garden Restaurant with a magnificent view rounded out the first day.

The second day we drove up to Park City,
Utah. Olympic Park was on our agenda along with looking at their Nordic Plaza and the freestyle pool.
Now it was time to start heading south. Capitol Reef National Park was our first stop, followed by Bryce Canyon National Park.

Able to maneuver around Rainbow Point at the elevation 9115 just fine.
Driving to Zion National Park. Route 12 is Utah’s most beautiful drive, may even share the road with a few cows.... however, there is a short stretch that creates the wildest drive, “Hogsback” that has steep canyons on both sides created by Boulder Creek on one side and Calf Creek on the other.

As I learned if you follow the bumper in front of your van things will be fine. Curly could see my hands just clutched to the steering wheel. He started talking to ease my fear, normally I would encourage conversation, my comment was, “would you please be quiet!”
Traveling downhill from there to Zion National Park was unique and decided to spend the night and just relax in God’s beauty.

The following day we did an early departure towards St. George where we enjoyed our lunch and headed back to our beautiful Fountain Hills, Arizona with memories of some of Utah’s special places and National Parks.
This road trip was truly a trip of God’s beauty and appreciation for our National Park system. If you are moving forward this needs to be on your bucket list.
You both are an ispiration . Seeing God's beauty and creation to show others that may not be able to travel themselves.
