The best medicine sometimes requires a little bit of work but moving forward to a road trip is well worth it. It will remind you that yes, you can get out and do things.

I remember our first road trip to Tucson for two nights at the Sheraton the year after Curly’s stroke. Reading the description of the hotel I noticed they had a pool with a lift. Wow, this is going to be fun! After the 2-3 hours of driving, we checked into the hotel. No doorman, which means you haul all the suitcases and STUFF up to the handicap room.
Okay it is time for a little rest…but after that I am sure we will go down to the pool. We did….I walked around and looked at the lift. Decided that we would need more help than we were comfortable asking for…ahhh let’s go out for dinner… that is an easier feat. My advice is be flexible. One thing may not work but dinner worked fine.
There are several upscale dining spots in the Tucson area that are easily accessible.

Hacienda Del Sol and Maynard’s both gave us a wonderful meal and leisure dining. Many of the restaurants in downtown Tucson are fun places and should not be overlooked.
We have found that spending two nights versus one night is a lot less work and you will enjoy that second night even more. This was our first outing...but not our last!
