As we continue to travel, we have purchased our second van. Our first one was a difficult decision. Jeff, my brother-in-law, and Jackie, our daughter, worked with Rollx in Shakopee, Minnesota and presented me with what the price would be. We were going for a new van, so the price is quite shocking (even the old ones) when you first see it. All vans vary in how the ramp goes out. Ours is all automatic, as I really try and cut extra work whenever I can. The portion that is deductible on your income tax is the modifications that they do to make it handicap accessible. Check with your insurance agent to see what the additional insurance cost is for the van as this may be tax deductible. On a new van the handicap modifications were approximately $30,000. It is important to have transportation in moving forward. It gives you the freedom and wellbeing that you need.

Here are some websites of the different mobility van companies:
Rollx – www.rollxvans.com, if you mention Kathy Patterson you will receive a $250 credit. Veterans receive an additional $1,000.00. Peter Doukas, pdoukas@rollxvans.com, was our person that arranged everything from start to finish….and they do deliver to your front door and will even pick up your old vehicle on trade. Rollx was also picked by Consumer Affairs for their warranty. We just purchased our 2nd van from Rollx and could not be more pleased! 952-890-785, ask for Peter.

Don’t forget if you are flying that you can rent a van in the city you are at. Listed above are some rental sites. Weekend rentals are usually less, starting on Thursday and returning on Monday.
Most major airports may have handicap shuttles available, but you need to reserve them ahead of time.
There are also private handicap shuttles that will pick you up and if your stay is short maybe less expensive just to hire them to take you to the necessary stops.
In our town we do have a service that will drive your van to the airport and pick you up when you return. Saves you parking and having everything right there is always a convenient way to return from a trip.
