Moving forward with Disabilities in Retirement, this is now the time to visit your timeshare or resort area. Airlines provide a wonderful service to the disabled (See "Leaving on a Jet Plane") for more information. We take our motorized wheelchair right up to the gate and they transfer my husband to a seat that they have personally picked that will make everything a breeze.
Our Westin Laguna Mar in Cancun Mexico goes above and beyond. They usually call within a month of arrival and ask if we have any special needs. At this time, you will be introduced to the concierge that will happily handle all your questions and reservations. They will arrange for a handicap van that will pick you up at the airport and take you directly to the resort. This same van company will do the trip back to the airport. Westin Laguna Mar will also have a few staples in your room if you want to arrange that with them before you arrive. The concierge will also arrange any restaurant in the area for dinner. Share with the concierge that you need space for a motorize wheelchair…reservations done, enjoy the evening!

The one nice thing about Westin Laguna Mar in Cancun Mexico is that many restaurants and shopping areas are right across the street. If there is a policeman close by, they will literally stop traffic for you to get across the street. This has happened to us more than once.
My favorite thing about Westin Laguna Mar is that it is right on the beach. I can go for a walk on the beach, shop, or have a massage at their spa while Curly is resting. After that we both meet for happy hour for a wonderful Mango Daiquiri at their outdoor restaurants. The restaurants are all delicious and some even have several theme dinners that you can enjoy.
Curly’s favorite staff at the Westin Laguna Mar, the “Pool Concierge”. Eduardo and his crew have for 5 years been making time to help “Mr. Curly” get in the pool and get some exercise. There are lift chairs at all the pools and this is usually when “Ms. Kathy” puts her feet up and enjoys the day.
Strolling through their grounds at night is incredibly beautiful. All the walkways are lit, they have ramps throughout the resort, everything is accessible.
Would I recommend the adventure to Westin Laguna Mar in Cancun Mexico? Yes, flights are good, and the resort is even better.
